CTO invites you to the International Girls in ICT Day 2022, Commonwealth Professional Fellowship webinar
International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated worldwide every year on the fourth Thursday of April and provides an opportunity for girls and young women to see and be exposed to the benefits of ICT to enable their career and aspirations. The International Telecommunications Union (ITU), that coordinates global celebrations of the event, asserts over 377,000 girls and young women have taken part in more than 11,400 celebrations of International Girls in ICT Day in 171 countries worldwide.
The CTO is currently hosting the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s Commonwealth Professional Fellowship Programme 2022. Under the Programme, six fellows from Commonwealth countries, assigned to the CTO to execute projects promoting Girls’ education, will showcase and highlight their research projects and how it will be implemented in their home countries.
The Commonwealth Professional Fellowship Webinar will raise awareness of the gender digital divide, promote STEM education and digital skills training, and promote ICT careers among girls and young women.
The objectives of the event are to:
- Encourage girls and young women to pursue STEM education.
- Inspire girls and young women to work in STEM/ICT career.
- Engage stakeholders and promote collaborations to end gender digital divide.
- Highlight gender stereotypes as a primary barrier to STEM/ICT careers in girls.
The CTO is also encouraging our members and non members from across the Commonwealth to participate and register for the event, as spaces are limited register below:
