Celebrating Universal Acceptance (UA) Day 2023
The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) and the Latin American and Caribbean Islands At-Large Regional Organization (LACRALO) are pleased to announce the inaugural awareness seminar “Celebrating Universal Acceptance Day”.
The virtual seminar will take place on Tuesday, 18th April 2023, from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

TATT Bursaries for Tertiary Students Initiative
Dr. Kim Mallalieu, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) addressed students, parents and university officials at a cheque distribution ceremony for TATT’s Bursaries for Tertiary Students initiative. The event took place on, Friday 23rd September 2022, at the Authority’s Barataria office.
Mrs. Cynthia Reddock Downes, TATT’s Chief Executive Officer also spoke at the event, where the first tranche of cheques, each valued at $10,000.00, were distributed to twelve students. These twelve students would have met specific criteria, including high GPAs, as outlined in an agreement signed by TATT and the College of Science Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago, The University of the West Indies, and the University of Trinidad and Tobago, on July 1st, 2022.
The Board of the Authority agreed to provide bursaries to two female and two male students attending these state-owned tertiary institutions, at the start of the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic years, with a view to expanding and encouraging the development of this country’s cadre of ICT professionals, as this the country embraces digital transformation.
This initiative is in alignment with Development Theme 1 of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s Vision 2030 National Development Strategy (2016-2030) – Putting People First: Nurturing Our Greatest Asset. Goal 7 of Development Theme 1 envisions this country possessing “a modern, relevant education and training system”.

Trinidad and Tobago and the Region

TATT Warns 100.5 FM Due to a Breach of its Concession
The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) acting pursuant to its duty to investigate complaints of broadcasting services under Section 18 (1)(m) of the Telecommunications Act, Ch 47:31 conducted an investigation of the Slam Roadblock show broadcast on Guardian Media Limited’s ‘SLAM 100.5 FM’ on 1st December, 2021 for inappropriate content and possible breach of its concession.

Nationwide Internet Disruption December 2020 - Service To be restored later today
The Authority wishes to advise that Internet connectivity to several service providers has been disrupted. There has been a disruption of the international cable link via Curaçao. It is an island-wide problem, however; the source of the disruption has been identified and work to restore connectivity is ongoing.

The Authority makes this release further to its previous releases dated 12th March 2015 and 26th March 2015 and consequent upon the receipt of an application received from Columbus Communications Trinidad Limited (CCTL) trading as “Flow” and Columbus Networks International (Trinidad) Limited (CNITL) on November 26th and 27th, 2014 for approval of a change of control resulting from a proposed acquisition of its parent company Columbus International Inc. by Cable and Wireless plc (CWC).
