The Authority first published its Equipment Standardisation and Certification Framework in February 2008, and now updates the framework to reflect advancements in telecommunications technology, equipment and uses. This Framework aims to ensure:
- Compliance with the recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) that specify standards for telecommunications equipment.
- Compliance with standards established by relevant organisations, such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Conformite Europeenne (CE), and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), and declarations of conformity (DoCs) from recognised manufacturers.
- Compliance with the Authority’s various spectrum plans and standardisation frameworks.
- The establishment and enhancement of strategic partnerships amongst government entities with a stake in the importation, certification, and safety of equipment.
- Specification of the processes and procedures for obtaining equipment certification.
- The processes to assess locally developed radio frequency (RF) devices for use in Trinidad and Tobago are defined.
- There is awareness of, and adherence to, national, regional and international telecommunications standards by entities requiring equipment certification.
- Who are required to fill this form?Persons with a desire to purchase or import radio-transmitting equipment, including Category 1 devices such as:
- What sections of the form are to be filled?Applicants are required to complete all sections of the form.
- How is the form submitted?You can complete and submit the form and copy of national identification via the following options:
- i. Multi-Use Radio Service (MURS) device
- ii. Family Radio Service/General Mobile Radio Services (FRS/GMRS) devices
- iii. Push-to-talk Over Cellular (PTToC) devices
- iv. Unmanned Aerial Service (UAS) or Drones (Drones over 250g must be registered)
- v. Citizens band (CB) Radio devices
- vi. White Space Devices (WSDs)

Registration Class Licence Devices Form (R-CL)
Guide to Completing and Submitting your Class Licence Device Registration Form to the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago
- Who are required to fill this form?Persons with a desire to operate devices that are class licensed by the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago but require registration.
- This includes the following devices:
- i. Category 2 and 3 devices identified in the Schedule of Devices Eligible for use Under a Class Licence
- Please complete the N-1 Application form, including the serial number for the drone on the application form.
- Please prepare a letter addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, #5 Eighth Avenue Extension, off Twelfth Street, Barataria, detailing the intended use of the drone. Please specify whether it will be used for private or commercial purposes and include the weight in grams (including the battery). Kindly provide the make, model, and serial number in the letter. Your letter must also state that it will be operated within the guidelines of TTCAA regulations as well as permission will be first obtained from private residences before flying over their properties.
- Please provide a certificate of character (for individuals) or a letter of non-objection (for entities) from the TTPS.
- Pay a one-time registration fee of $120.00. The registration fee can be paid via the following methods:
- i. Online transfer directly to the bank account of the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago at First Citizens Bank, San Juan Branch Account #1388147
- ii. In person at any branch of First Citizens Bank #1388147
- iii. Via online credit card payment by sending an email to receivables@tatt.org.tt confirming customer name, particular of the payment and amount to be paid. The Authority will then send an email with the link to make the payment
- iv. Cheque payments can be dropped off with security at the offices of the Authority in a sealed envelope.
