Consumer Complaints

 

During the period 1st January 2023 and 31st March 2023, TATT received and acted upon one hundred and fifty (150) valid consumer complaints regarding mobile, fixed line, subscription television, Internet services, and service packages. One hundred and thirty-six (136) or 90.6 % of these complaints were either resolved or closed by TATT. 

 

Broadcasting Content Complaint


During the reporting period TATT received and acted upon eight (8) broadcasting content complaints. Six (6) were related to radio whilst the other two (2) were related to television.
Four (4) of these complaints were resolved, whilst the other four (4) were non-actionable.

Talk Show Monitoring Programme


The talk show monitoring programme continued during the period 1st January to  31st March 2023, where five (5) radio talk shows and two (2) television talk shows were monitored. The monitors referred forty-eight (48) reports to TATT of which eight (8) required further investigation. Following TATT’s investigations, only one of these matters required the issuance of a warning to a broadcaster.

Public Consultation on Interest, Demand and New Applications for Spectrum Bands destined for IMT Services Development in Costa Rica

The Embassy of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in Costa Rica in receipt of correspondence from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Workshop of Costa Rica is inviting interested parties to participate in a "Public Consultation on Interest, Demand and New Applications for Spectrum Bands Destined for IMT (International Mobile Telecommunications) Services Development in Costa Rica" facilitated through the Council Secretary of the Superintendence of Telecommunications (SUTEL) of Costa Rica.

 

Interested persons are invited to provide comments/feedback in accordance with the questions outlined within the invitation notice, being sure to include the relevant company and contact details, as well as any additional queries or concerns about the intended auction process.

Oct10 TATT Bursaries for Tertiary Students Initiative

Dr. Kim Mallalieu, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) addressed students, parents and university officials at a cheque distribution ceremony for TATT’s Bursaries for Tertiary Students initiative. The event took place on, Friday 23rd September 2022, at the Authority’s Barataria office.

 

Mrs. Cynthia Reddock Downes, TATT’s Chief Executive Officer also spoke at the event, where the first tranche of cheques, each valued at $10,000.00, were distributed to twelve students. These twelve students would have met specific criteria, including high GPAs, as outlined in an agreement signed by TATT and the College of Science Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago, The University of the West Indies, and the University of Trinidad and Tobago, on July 1st, 2022.


The Board of the Authority agreed to provide bursaries to two female and two male students attending these state-owned tertiary institutions, at the start of the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic years, with a view to expanding and encouraging the development of this country’s cadre of ICT professionals, as this the country embraces digital transformation.

 

This initiative is in alignment with Development Theme 1 of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’s Vision 2030 National Development Strategy (2016-2030) – Putting People First: Nurturing Our Greatest Asset. Goal 7 of Development Theme 1 envisions this country possessing “a modern, relevant education and training system”.
